For the more intrepid, there is the option to hike in and camp under the stars. Hikers must book in advance to camp and stay in the hike-in campsites. There are seven exclusive, limited-capacity hike-in campsites along the Walk – four of which can accommodate small-groups (parties of up to 18 walkers across six tent sites). The small group camping areas are located at Elliot Ridge, Blanket Bay, Cape Otway and Aire River, with only individual camping sites at Johanna, Ryans Den and Devils Kitchen hike-in campgrounds.
Book in advance. To book and pay, visit Parks Victoria website http://www.parkstay.vic.gov.au/great-ocean-walk-bookings or call Parks Victoria on 13 19 63.
